"Tap In" is a musical that spotlights the black / brown girl's journey through storytelling, rhythm, spoken word, percussion, hip-hop, and tap dance. This musical highlights themes of sisterhood, femininity, growing up, love, and triumph through 3 friends who discover themselves through the beat of life. Featuring the award-winning female tap dance company, "Syncopated Ladies," "Tap In" pays homage to the art form of tap dance through the lens of contemporary black womanhood as its lead curators. "Tap In" will receive a Collegiate Premiere at Howard University in Spring 2027.

I Dream DC is an arts and civic engagement project inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s world-changing "I Have a Dream" speech, to center Washington, DC in a national conversation about hope, healing, and justice. More than a theatrical offering, I Dream DC is designed as a civic experience, amplifying local voices and connects artists, elders, and activists in re-envisioning what belonging, freedom, and transformation look like here and now.

Say It Loud is a bold, interactive improv comedy show created and performed by the CFA Repertory Theatre. The show celebrates Black culture, creativity, and authentic storytelling through unscripted performance. Blending high-energy audience participation, quick wit, and spontaneous scenes, the show creates a dynamic theatrical experience that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Say It Loud uses comedy and improvisation to spark conversations around identity, community, self-expression, and the power of Black voices on stage.

The Canady Foundation for the Arts presented the first-ever theatrical performance of Born on the Water by Nikole Hannah-Jones and Renee Watson, the powerful children’s book from the landmark 1619 Project. This stage production reimagines the book’s poetic language, historical resonance, and striking imagery as a vibrant, immersive performance. Born on the Water invites young audiences and families into a theatrical experience that celebrates history, imagination, and cultural memory.

Girls! Girls? Girls. is a provocative and humorous one-woman satirical play that examines the Black woman through the lens of public opinion. Through a dynamic collection of characters, comedy, storytelling, and social commentary, Canady explores how Black women and girls are portrayed, celebrated, judged, and stereotyped in American culture. This one woman show uses satire as a tool for dialogue, inviting audiences to look beyond stereotypes and consider who gets to define Black womanhood.
